FOR PASSENGERS BORN IN CUBA VISITING FAMILY IN CUBA

For passengers born in Cuba visiting family in Cuba, please read the page in Spanish first with information about family visits.

As a Cuban, you have the right to visit your family in Cuba

Step 1 - Know the current travel restrictions of the USA

Travel Restrictions

Read the Travel Restrictions that apply to any person traveling from US territory and returning to US territory. In short, a person with family in Cuba can visit their relatives and can also qualify in another category as an academic or professional with the purpose of research in Cuba, or a journalist, or a student visiting Cuba with academic credit from their university. There are also specific licenses granted by OFAC. You have an obligation to read and understand the OFAC regulations and understand how they apply in your own case.

Step 2 - Ensure that your travel documents are current

Passports and visas

If you were born in Cuba or are going to visit your family in Cuba, you will need a permit to enter Cuban passports and Cuban visas. Cubans who entered the United States before 1971 will need an HE-11 visa. If you entered the US after 1971, you will need a valid Cuban passport that is authorized for entry to Cuba. The Cuban passport is valid for 6 years but has to be extended every 2 years.

To leave and return to the US, you must have a US passport, permanent residence or multiple entry visa. You can consult us but you have an obligation to ensure that these documents are in order. If you live in another country and will be traveling to Cuba from the US and returning to the US, you should consult with the Cuban consulate to ensure that you have all the necessary documents to leave and return to the US.

You have the responsibility to ensure that your documents are in order, and we at ALEA'S TAX SERVICES can help you. In our office we provide all procedures: HE-11, extension, renewal of passport, first passport preparation, and several other visas and permits.

Step 3 - Choose your flights and other services in Cuba

Flights to Cuba

To choose your flights please contact us for information on the schedules of direct flights to Cuba from the US. Flights are also offered from other points of origin. Contact us for more information.

We reserve private homes and hotels in each province and city of the island.

STEPS TO OPEN NEW CORPORATIONS

Miami is an attractive destination for investors and entrepreneurs, offering favorable conditions for investments and tax advantages that stimulate private initiative and the transfer of capital.

A good idea and a well-designed business model is all that is needed to start a business, as well as drive and passion. Complete the procedures to crystallize the idea is not complicated. In fact, you only have to take seven steps to make the dream come true:

STEP 1

Decide how you will structure your business, either as a corporation, limited liability company (limited partnership) or another legal form of business for the purpose of tax obligations. To that end, if you want to use the advice of our office to help you determine the best way to develop your professional activity.

STEP 2

Submit the application to the Florida Department of State to incorporate the entity.

For this, we are here to help you.

STEP 3

We help you Get your employer identification number (EIN) for your business.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) explains how to use the EIN used for tax returns.

STEP 4

It may be that your business is required to collect certain taxes or fees, including sales and use taxes, which you must subsequently remit to the state coffers. You must first register with the Florida Department of the Treasury.

STEP 5

Obtain an Occupational License called the Local Business Tax Receipt of Miami-Dade County and the municipality in which the new company is located.

Tax on local businesses

Taxes on local businesses (formerly known as occupational licenses) vary according to the nature of the company. A receipt is required for each place of business and for each separate classification in the same place. The receipts are transferable when there is a change of ownership, commercial location or commercial name.

* The incorporated county and municipalities require Local Commercial Tax Receipts for each business location, and for each separate classification in the same place.

* A business located within a municipality is required to obtain both a city receipt and a County receipt.

* The County issues Local Commercial Tax Receipts for one year, beginning on October 1 and expiring on September 30 of each year.

* The local business tax receipt must be displayed visibly at your place of business and in a manner that is open to the public and subject to inspection by all duly authorized County officials.

* The Local Business Tax office must be notified in writing regarding any change in the following: business name or property, location, number of employees, equipment, machines or any other contingency.

* If the business ceases to function, the owner must return the Local Business Tax Receipt to the local Business Tax Receipt Office so that the name can be removed from the Tax Collector's files.

* Some tax categories of local businesses have specific additional requirements. Some applicants are eligible for exemptions.

How easy is it to open a business in the United States as a foreigner?

Yes, it is possible for foreigners to form corporations in the United States, and, surprisingly, there are not many requirements. But operating a business requires unavoidable conditions.

STEP 6

Determine if the county government requires another requirement for your business such as a certificate of use certificate (zoning) or an environmental permit. The regulations vary by industry.

STEP 7

Open a commercial bank account in your company's name.
